For adult children & families

You can’t be there every time the printer stops working.

We can. Porchswing gives your mom or dad patient, respectful technology help — in their home or over the phone — and keeps you in the loop afterward, so you’re not left wondering whether it got handled.

Sound familiar?

The phone call you can't answer from work

The printer stopped working, the TV is stuck on the wrong input, and you're three hours away in a meeting.

The text that almost got them

"Your account has been suspended." You caught this one in time. You won't always be there to catch the next one.

They won't ask for help

They don't want to be a bother, so they quietly stop using the thing that was frustrating them — and stop calling as often, too.

You've tried to teach them yourself

And it went badly for both of you. That doesn't mean you failed. Teaching your own parent is genuinely hard.

None of this means your parent is failing, and none of it means you are. Technology changed faster than anyone was taught to keep up with it. That’s the whole reason we exist.

Why families trust us

The hard part was never the technology.

Anyone can reset a router. What your parent actually needs is someone who can do it without making them feel small.

We never make them feel foolish

Not once, not with a sigh, not with a look. Most people who call us have been made to feel stupid by someone else first — a call center, a big-box store, sometimes a family member who meant well.

We go at their pace

If a step needs explaining four times, we explain it four times. We're not counting, and we're not rushing to the next ticket.

We fix it, then we teach it

The goal isn't to make them dependent on us. It's for them to feel confident doing it themselves next time — and to call us when they'd rather not.

We work with your parent, not around them

You can arrange and pay for everything. But it's still their home, their computer, and their decision. That respect is the whole reason this works.

How it works when you’re the one arranging it

1

Tell us what's going on

Call or send a message. You don't need to diagnose anything — describe it the way your parent described it to you.

2

We reach out to your parent directly

Warmly, on your introduction, and we schedule around them. No pressure, no surprise visits.

3

We go to their door — or connect remotely

We fix what's broken, secure what's exposed, and explain it in plain English while we do it.

4

You get a recap

A short, jargon-free summary of what we found, what we did, and anything worth keeping an eye on. Just ask for it when you book.

The part families tell us matters most

We’ll keep you in the loop.

Ask for it when you book, and after each visit we’ll send you a short recap in plain English: what we found, what we did, and anything worth watching. It’s opt-in on purpose — your parent should always know what’s being shared about their home.

The worry that keeps you up

Seniors are the number one target for online scams.

One convincing pop-up or one urgent-sounding phone call can undo a lifetime of careful saving. PorchswingProtect helps stop the threats before they start — and because it’s from Porchswing, there’s always a real person your parent can call instead of guessing.

Plenty of families buy it for their parents and let us handle the rest. We help get it installed, we keep an eye on it, and your mom or dad never has to think about it again.

What if we live in different states?

Very common, and rarely a problem. We visit homes across Northern California (Rocklin, Roseville, Loomis, Lincoln, Granite Bay, Folsom, Auburn) and College Station, Texas. But remote help and our live online classes work anywhere in the country — so it doesn’t matter whether you’re the one far away or they are.

Remote computer help

With their permission, we securely connect to their computer and fix it while they watch — questions encouraged the whole way through.

Questions families ask us

My mom insists she doesn't need any help. What then?

That's the most common thing we hear, and it's usually not really about the technology — it's about not wanting to be treated like she can't manage. So we don't treat her that way. We show up as the person who handles the annoying stuff, not as proof that anything is wrong. Most of the time the resistance fades after the first visit, because it turns out we're pleasant company who fixed the printer.

Can I pay for this without making my parent feel like a burden?

Yes, and a lot of families do exactly that. You can arrange and pay for everything up front — including our multi-hour packages — and we simply never discuss billing at the door. As far as your parent's visit goes, it's handled.

Will you talk to me, or to my parent?

Both, and that's the point. We work directly with your parent during the visit because it's their home and their decision. Then, if they're comfortable with it, we send you the recap so you're not left guessing.

My parent lives outside your service area. Are we out of luck?

Not necessarily. In-home visits cover Northern California and College Station, Texas — but remote help and our live online classes work anywhere in the country. Plenty of our clients are in one state with family in another.

How do I know they're safe with someone I've never met?

We're licensed and insured, and every single Porchswing technician is background-checked before they ever visit a client. We've been doing this since 2017 and have helped 1,100+ people. We'll also never ask your parent for a password over the phone — and we'll teach them that nobody legitimate ever will.

What if the real problem is scams, not the printer?

Then that's where we start. Scam and phishing protection is the single most valuable thing we do for families. We can clean up an active problem, secure their accounts, install protection that watches for threats, and — most importantly — teach them the handful of red flags that stop nearly all of it.

Let’s get them taken care of

Prefer the phone? Call (916) 521-0065 — a real person answers.

Peace of mind for you. Dignity for them.
