How to Set an Alarm on Your iPhone for Tomorrow Morning

July 2, 2026 · by Porchswing Technology

Remember the little wind-up clock on the nightstand? You'd twist the knob, hear that satisfying tick, and trust it to wake you at six. Your iPhone can do the same job — and once you've set it once, you'll never need to fumble with it in the dark again.

Let's walk through it, step by step, so tomorrow you wake up right on time.

Finding the Clock App

Look on your home screen for an icon that looks like a small white clock face, with black hands. It's called Clock — that's the app we want. Tap it once.

If you can't find it, don't hunt through every screen. Instead, swipe your finger downward from the middle of the home screen. A search bar will appear at the top. Type clock and it will pop right up. Tap it to open.

Setting the Alarm

Once the Clock app is open, look along the bottom of the screen. You'll see a row of small words: World Clock, Alarm, Stopwatch, and Timer. Tap Alarm.

Now, in the top right corner, you'll see a plus sign (+). Tap that. A big dial appears with hours and minutes, a bit like the numbers on an old rotary phone.

Spin the hour column up or down with your finger until it shows the hour you want — say, 6. Then spin the minutes column to 00. Finally, make sure the third column says AM for morning (or PM for evening).

When it looks right, tap Save in the top right corner. That's it. The alarm is set.

Making Sure It Will Actually Ring

Here's the part folks sometimes miss. Back on the Alarm screen, you'll see your new alarm listed with a little switch beside it. If the switch is green, the alarm is turned on. If it's gray, tap it once to turn it green.

Also — and this is important — check the small switch on the left side of your phone, just above the volume buttons. If you see a bit of orange peeking through, your phone is on silent. Don't worry: your alarm will still ring even in silent mode. But it's worth knowing.

One last thing. Plug your phone in before bed. An alarm can't wake you if the battery ran out overnight.

Turning It Off in the Morning

When the alarm goes off, your screen will light up and show two options: Stop and Snooze.

Tap Stop to turn it off completely. Tap Snooze to get nine more minutes of sleep — it will ring again automatically. If your phone is locked, you may need to press the side button once first to see the buttons clearly.

One Tip for Repeat Mornings

If you want the same alarm every weekday, you don't have to set it again each night. When you're creating the alarm (or if you tap an existing alarm to edit it), tap the word Repeat. You can then choose Monday through Friday, or every day, or just weekends. Tap Back, then Save.

Try It Right Now

Before bed tonight, open the Clock app, tap Alarm, tap the plus sign, and set an alarm for tomorrow morning. Make sure the switch beside it is green. Plug the phone in, set it on the nightstand, and sleep well.
