How to Set a Wake-Up Alarm on Your iPhone for Tomorrow Morning

August 26, 2026 · by Porchswing Technology

Remember the wind-up alarm clock on the nightstand? You'd twist the little dial on the back, pull out the pin, and hope it didn't ring before you'd had your coffee. Your iPhone can do the same job — and once you know where the button is, it takes about ten seconds.

Here's exactly how to set an alarm to wake you up tomorrow morning.

Finding the Clock

Your iPhone comes with an app called Clock. It looks like — no surprise — a little white clock face with black hands, and it's usually somewhere on your home screen.

If you can't spot it, swipe down from the middle of your home screen with one finger. A search bar appears at the top. Type "clock" and tap the Clock app when it shows up.

Once the app opens, look at the row of buttons along the bottom. You'll see World Clock, Alarm, Stopwatch, and Timer. Tap Alarm.

Setting the Time

You'll see a screen where you can add a new alarm. Tap the plus sign (+) in the top right corner.

Now you'll see a spinning wheel with hours and minutes — a bit like the dials on an old combination lock. Slide the hours up or down with your finger until you land on the hour you want. Do the same with the minutes. Make sure you pick AM for morning (the column on the right).

Say you want to get up at 6:30 tomorrow. Spin the wheel to 6, then to 30, then make sure AM is selected. That's it — your alarm is set.

Tap Save in the top right corner. You'll be taken back to the alarm list, and you'll see your new alarm sitting there with a little switch beside it. If the switch is green, the alarm is turned on. If it's gray, tap it once to turn it on.

A Few Helpful Extras

Before you tap Save, there are a couple of things worth knowing about on that same screen:

  • Label: Tap this to give your alarm a name, like "Doctor's appointment" or "Take pill." When the alarm goes off, that name shows up on the screen so you remember why you set it.
  • Sound: Tap this to pick what the alarm sounds like. Some are gentle chimes, some are loud beeps. Give a few a listen and pick one you'll actually hear.
  • Snooze: Leave this turned on if you like a few extra minutes in the morning. When the alarm rings, a big Snooze button appears — tap it and the alarm will ring again in nine minutes.

One important note: your iPhone needs to be turned on for the alarm to ring, but it does not need to be unlocked, and it does not need to be plugged in. Even if the ringer switch on the side is set to silent, the alarm will still ring out loud. That's a nice piece of insurance.

Turning It Off in the Morning

When the alarm goes off, your screen will light up and the sound will play. To stop it completely, tap Stop. To get nine more minutes of sleep, tap Snooze.

If you set the alarm as a one-time wake-up (no days of the week selected), it will automatically turn itself off after it rings. It stays in your list, ready to use again — you just flip the little switch back to green next time you need it.

Try It Tonight

Before bed, open the Clock app, tap Alarm, tap the plus sign, and set an alarm for tomorrow morning. Give it a label so you'll smile when it rings. Then set your phone on the nightstand, screen down, and get some rest.
