How to Check Tomorrow's Weather on Your iPhone Before You Get Dressed

Remember flipping to the back page of the newspaper to see if you'd need a sweater tomorrow? Or waiting for the little weather map after the evening news? Your iPhone has that same forecast tucked inside it — and it's ready in about ten seconds. Here's exactly how to pull it up.
Finding the Weather app
Your iPhone comes with a free Weather app already installed. Its icon looks like a white sun peeking out from behind a blue cloud.
Look for it on your home screen — the screen with all the little squares of pictures. If you don't see it right away, swipe your finger from the middle of the screen downward. A search bar will appear at the top. Type the word weather and tap the Weather app when it shows up.
Tap it once to open it.
Reading tomorrow's forecast
When the app opens, you'll see today's weather for your town at the top — the temperature right now, and a short description like "Mostly Sunny."
Scroll down a little by dragging your finger up the screen. You're looking for a section called 10-Day Forecast. It's a list, with today at the top and each following day underneath.
Tomorrow will be the second row down. You'll see:
- The day of the week (for example, "Wed")
- A small picture showing the weather — a sun, a cloud, a raindrop
- Two numbers: the low temperature on the left and the high on the right
So if tomorrow's row shows a little cloud with rain, and the numbers 52 and 64, you'll know to grab a light jacket and an umbrella.
Getting more detail if you want it
Tap directly on tomorrow's row. A new screen opens with the hour-by-hour forecast for that day.
This is helpful when you have plans. Say you're going to lunch at noon — scroll down that list until you see 12 PM and you'll know exactly what the sky is doing at lunchtime. Rain in the morning that clears up by afternoon? You'll spot it right there.
To go back, tap the small X or the arrow in the corner of the screen.
Making sure it's your town
The weather you see is based on where your iPhone thinks you are. Usually that's correct, but it's worth a glance.
At the very top of the main Weather screen, you'll see the name of a city or town. If it says your town — wonderful, you're set. If it shows somewhere else, you may be looking at the forecast for a nearby city where a cell tower is picking you up. The temperatures will still be close, but if you'd like to fix it, tap the little bullet-list icon in the bottom-right corner, then the small circle with three dots in the top-right, and choose Edit List to add your own town.

Right now, open the Weather app on your iPhone and find tomorrow's high and low. Then take one small extra step: set out tomorrow's clothes based on what you saw. That's the whole point of a forecast — a little peek ahead so today is a little easier.
